Facebook and Instagram against Coronavirus – current initiatives (which you may have lost)
CIAO marketing specialists!
In these quarantine days, many of us take the opportunity to study, read and acquire new skills to apply in the projects in which we work, precisely for this reason, you may have lost two news that Facebook and Instagram have published these days.
While the world sees the dissemination of the virus in constant growth, social networks set in motion important financial machines to stem – as much as possible – contagion.
Let’s see them in today’s article … Let’s start with Instagram 😉
Iorestoacasa Instagram sticker
Instagram officially launches the «Iorestoacasa» sticker to promote and encourage «social distancing»
The problem of stickers has always been discussed: as an element of Instagram stories, are they really used? How much do they use them? But above all, are they appreciated by billions of users dispersed worldwide?
Instagram does not seem to take care of these questions and continues to publish new elements of this type, which makes us think that they are somehow appreciated by its users.
In these days, Instagram has officially launched the new «Iosrttetoacasa» sticker, built to promote the «social distance» if called and renew the invitation to users to stay safe in their homes.

Instagram comments on:
«Today, we are launching the new» Iortetaacasa «sticker that you can find in stories. When you use it, your photos will be added to a shared story where everyone can see that you are at home and go well»
As you can see in the image below, beyond the sticker, Instagram seems to have launched a new «condensed» story, which brings together all the «Iorerestoacasa» content produced by the community.

This initiative would not only target the release of new «anti-bodyvirus» characteristics, but also the increase in this feeling of cohesion and union accessible today only through social networks.
Activities of this type also make us think about the situation which, in different states of the world, does not seem to be accepted with the right importance: thousands of people still flocked in the streets, which lead a normal life which does not pay attention to recent tragic international events (unfortunately, as we know, we also have similar cases in Italy).
And now social networks also take the ground as a bearer of a movement not yet married by everyone. This small Instagram initiative and that of Facebook (which we will see in the next lines) make us understand how the situation is more serious than we imagine.
It is interesting to note one thing: the recent deployment of these functions is not the only actions that Instagram has implemented in favor of socially relevant questions:
Last October, the platform gave the sticker «Create – Don’t Hate», created to support the battle for cyberbullying and – just before the sticker «remains at home» – another was released in order to thank all the health, the doctors and the nurses who, at this moment of crisis, put it all to save human vines. (Find the image below)

Now try the new sticker, open the application and in the sticker sticker section, search «stay at home», post it in your story and contribute to the virtual kissing that Instagram launches all over the world.
Facebook help for companies
The coronavirus brings small businesses on their knees, Facebook allocates $ 100 million to help them in the second period.
While the news of a vaccine still seems far away, the virus continues its trip to the European continent, causing – beyond the death of thousands of people – also the inevitable closure of millions of activities worldwide.
One of the biggest problems caused by this pandemic is correctly an economic / financial type, how are we going to recover from this judgment? How will Italy and the world come out of this situation?
One thing is certain, it will take funds to start again and reach the state of «financial health» that small businesses appreciated before the infection.
Over the past ten years, millions of SMEs have found a powerful advertising ally on Facebook to increase their income and increase their brand notoriety, Facebook knows it well, for this reason that it has decided to allocate $ 100 million to help more than 30,000 small and medium -sized enterprises in 30 different nations.
In the past hours, the Facebook CO has commented Sheryl Sandberg:
“Small businesses are the heart rate of our communities, and many people who direct these companies are strongly affected by the crisis – especially since more and more people remain at home. The more the crisis takes place, the more risky I am for small businesses and the livelihoods of 30,000 small businesses.
This fund allowance is concrete and real, you can find the official website dedicated to the initiative here

«How can I send my request and benefit from this program?»
Although the site is clear on the goodness of the initiative, there is still no news on a request form: on the site, in fact, all that we obtain is a pop-up where to insert our email to «stay up to date». (Image below)

So, as now, for SMEs, everything is left is to register for the program and wait for news directly from Facebook in your messaging boxes. Our feeling is positive, but we say that – once created and announced a similar program – Facebook should not delay too much to publish updates concerning the problem: every day, the situation passes becomes more and more critical.
The other news
This 100 million dollars allowance is not the only activity that Facebook had planned to help the resumption of SMEs.
These are all the activities that have already launched or about to launch:
- Launch of a new commercial resource center, which aims to provide support for all SMEs affected by the pandemic through tools and consultations.
- The work has started for a new «virtual training program» which, according to Facebook, will help all the companies working under specific conditions caused by the virus.
- Facebook creates new BluePrint guides in order to help companies improve smart work and remote team management.
- Facebook Journalism Project opens a partnership with the American Media Association American, to support local journalistic newspapers with $ 1 million which is at work to guarantee daily updates linked to the pandemic.
If we think of the 71 billion turnover that Facebook produced only in 2019, it is easy to understand how these 100 million are not an absurd figure. At the same time, it is appreciable to see how these giants They move to helpBoth financially and emotional, to the entire population.
And you, what do you think it could do Facebook – and the world of social networks in general – to help companies recover faster?
